A Misfit Reader

Just a woman that has many books to read and many books to be bought and just to have books. Oh the books that have yet to be read by me!

BoBs Day Five!!!

Yay I'm back again! I told you I would! So, for this update I am again getting nearer towards the end of "Jurassic Park" the raptors are really scary and vicious and I would not want to come against one. I would cry! I'm on pg 334 out of 399. I guess that's all I got for my updates!

Ok so onto today's updated challenge! Which this one is also fun and it's called Bookish Playlist. All I have to do is choose a book and three songs that seem to go along side with the book! This is fun to do and I can't wait to see where I will go with this.

"The Chronicle's of Narnia series"

I Will Get There by Boyz II Men

This song is a really powerful song and an uplifting one and it seems fitting for the series and to each character.

"Stand by You" by Rachel Platten

Just being there for each other and helping each other out no matter what happens.

"Fight Song" also by Rachel Platten

When times are down and the characters feel alone, all they have to do is just remember their inner strength.

Well, that's it! That's all I got for this time around!  I will be back tomorrow for another update and hopefully I don't get lazy about it lol! I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend and to be fantastic. Until tomorrow.

LATER DAYS!!!

BoBs Day Four!!! (make up)

Hello everyone and how are you all? I hope you're all doing awesome. I seemed to have dropped the ball on this one again. I forgot to post again yesterday, I had to pick up my nephew yesterday and watch him for a bit and I did other things and I forgot to just post. I did however read while I was waiting yesterday. I'm nearing the end and "Jurassic Park" is becoming such a good read near the end and I can't wait to see how this ends.

So, of course this being BoBs week I have a challenge to make up and this one seems pretty fun to do! This one is called Book Trip. All I have to do is choose books that are set in places where I would love to go. Even the most crazy of places like Hogwarts! So, here are some books I choose.

"Westminster Abby" set in England

"The Diviner" set in New York

"P.S. I Love You" set in Ireland

"The Hobbit" Middle Earth where the hobbits live I think. I would love to see that!

"This Wicked Game" set in New Orleans

"Twilight Series" set in Forks, Washington (yes I know but it's the place I would like to visit)

"Under the Tuscan Sun" set in Italy

Of course "Harry Potter" Hogwarts lol

That's it! I do have a lot more places I would love to go to, but for right now these are the books I can think of. That's it for this update and of course I will be back after this one. Until then

LATER DAYS!!!

BoBs Day Three!!!

Hey everyone so I'm back again yay!!! How are you all doing today? I hope awesome, because that's how I feel! Yay!!! So, I did do some reading into "Jurassic Park" and holy crap I really can't stand certain characters in this book. I'm  angry towards John Hammond and he's constant worry about his animals and not his grandchildren. The movie made him more sympathetic and not wanting to punch him.I had just watched the movie and I forgot how fast pace it was and how everything is completely different it was from the book.

For the challenge today I am to share with you all my favorite literary villain. Which is quite hard for me, because I wouldn't know who! I've always been the type to just go for the good guys and then watching TV shows like Once Upon A Time made me appreciate an awesome villain or two!

Alright, I do have one in book form! And that is, Bellatrix Lestrange from of course Harry Potter. I will admit I enjoyed the whole crazy and cynical approach into taunting her victims. She is the one that everyone loves to hate and I can't stand the woman, but she does bring fun to the books. I will admit that I haven't read the books for awhile and I am getting around to it. I am almost done rereading the first book and will move on to the next.

I guess I can also add Severus Snape to the mix as well. The supposed bad guy who actually turned out to be such a brokenhearted man and good guy in the end. Oh he may have had me hating on him so much at the beginning, but in the end it broke my heart to read what he had done for Harry. Oh sad face! :'(

That's all I have for updates of BoBs week day three yay! I am so glad that I got myself caught up and read. Of course I'll be back tomorrow for day four and until then:  Be Fantastic!

Later Days!!!

Day 2 of BoBs

Ok now I am caught up with my posts. I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t read today! Yes I know not cool home girl not cool lol! I was a little busy and just didn’t get around to reading and I left my book! I’ll make it up tomorrow thou! I really do enjoy reading “Jurassic Park” and seeing the difference between the book and movie.

For today’s challenge I am to use emojis to explain the plot of the book I am reading or any other book around. I’m gonna have fun doing this challenge so here I go!

BoBs week day 1 (yesterday’s day)

Hey everyone and how’s it going? I hope you all are doing well! Well, yesterday started Bout of Books week and I was completely lazy at sharing a post for yesterday. Saying I was going to join and that I am still reading a book that I started last month and that is "Jurassic Park" by Micheal Crichton.

This is going to be a quick update and I will return in a bit with an updated blog post for today's okie dokie.

I of course watched the movie of "Jurassic Park" as a kid and I loved it and now reading the book and seeing how different it is compare to the movie. They flip flop the kids ages and in the book the younger sister Lex is a pain, but it's whatever lol! But, I am almost done and I hope to finish before this week ends. So, for yesterday's challenge I just had to introduce myself in six words so here I go:

Woman on a quest for adventures!!!

There we go quick, simple, and easy. Ok so now I will be back with today's update.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon

Hello everyone and how's it going?! I hope you all are doing awesome and are being awesome! I'm doing awesome myself! I am here to do a review on the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. I'm excited to be doing this review because of how it's set up.

A quick blurb the story centers around a character name Christopher John Francis Boone, who happens to be Autistic. He had happened upon a dog in the neighbor's yard and which turned out to be murdered. He was accused of killing the dog, but was let go with a warning. He then decides and against his father's wishes to take it upon himself to solve the case of who killed the dog.

I just love this story, I love what was brought into it. How the author had handle a character with Autism was fantastic and you felt what Christopher felt. I don't personally know anyone who has Autism, but I'm subscribed to a few channels on YouTube of families who have someone with Autism. It's very educational and eye open. The book goes into how he soothes himself by stemming, which frightens people who don't understand, how smart Christopher is, how he views the world differently, how he proves people wrong by pushing himself out of his comfort zone; I like that the author included that and to face the world outside of what Christopher knows.

My heart broke for Christopher many times while reading. I got so mad at a lot of people and really wanted to just comfort and protect Christoper. I would get annoyed at people a lot of times and mostly towards his dad. I love the journey that Christopher does and how he handles situations that is new. He did managed to get to London by himself. I felt like a proud and frighten mama for him lol!

I am so glad that I had gotten and read this amazing read. I would most likely and highly recommend this read to everyone. To get a small glimpse of how a person with Autism handles the world. This book is also apart of the PBS's 100 top American Reads and up for the number one spot. This book needs to be added to everyone's library to get get an understanding!

I hope that you all enjoy this little review on such an amazing and powerful book. I'll be back next Friday with a brand new post. Until then have an awesome day/night!

LATER DAYS!!!

The Cuteness of Anne of Green Gables a review

Anne of Green Gables Novels #1 - L.M. Montgomery

Hello hello everyone and how are you all?! I am doing so great! I know I haven't been back for quiet some time and there is no excuse. But, I am back and I'm excited to be back. So, for today as you can see I am going to be doing another review and that is Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery and I have read this a while ago and I am now here to share what I thing about.

BLURB

Anne Shirley is an orphan who has been finally been given a home with a brother and sister Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. But, what she didn't know and what they didn't know was that she's a girl. Marilla had wanted a boy to help out her brother. It was a misunderstanding and Anne was sent instead. Marilla wanted to send Anne back right away, but changed her mind. Anne now has a home and she is off having an adventure at her new home.

My Thought

This book I ended up adoring and had wished to have discovered this as a young girl. It brought back memories of my own adventures as a kid and the crazy imagination that I used and still use!

Anne is just very cheerful, spunky, and very talkative. She lives inside her head a lot and I find I related to her because of that. The fact that she is a bit of a tomboy is just fun and not allowing herself to be completely afraid of certain adventures. There are a couple of things that was quite hard to read about and that is one her stubbornness. Two the fact that she brings herself down, because of not looking like every other girl and that is heartbreaking to read.

Now, there is a quote that I found funny when she first arrived and coming home with Matthew and it's about her talkative nature. It's both sweet and funny, it reminds me of how we were as children and how children still are it goes.

"It's such a relief to talk when one wants to be and not be told that children should be seen and not heard. I've had that said to me a million times if I have once. And people laugh at me because I use big words. But if you have big ideas you have to use big words to express them, haven't you?"

I just enjoyed it and just laughed because it's something we all do as children.

Marilla at first I didn't like because of her treatment towards Anne at first, to make her feel bad that she wasn't a boy. It wasn't Anne's fault. But as time went by she became likable.

Matthew is just sweet as pie and the love he had towards Anne is just what he needed to be more open and just enjoy her life. I liked him from the get go and enjoyed the chemistry between him and Anne. A father/Daughter love.

Mrs. Rachel Lynde I did not like at the get go, the nosy neighbor who has to know everyone's business and she drove me crazy. I'm not gonna lie I did enjoy how Anne treated her when Rachel called her ugly. But she got somewhat likable in the end.

Diana is just what Anne need and the fact that she took to Anne right away was just so sweet. She is bubbly and fun as well.

Gilbert the poor thing I felt bad for him on how Anne treated him, because of one stupid mistake he did to her. But he is a sweet and kind boy, with a bit of mischief, but gives Anne fuel.

This story is just again just adorable and cute. I would love to continue reading the rest of the books. I was happy to see that Anne had gotten over her stubbornness towards Gilbert and allow herself to enjoy him. I would recommend this to the young girls at heart, and young girls. To mothers and daughters. I can't recommend this enough.

Well, I have come to an end. I'm so happy to be back with a post. I will be back next Friday with a brand new post. Until then I hope you all have a fantastic day/night where ever you are and I'll write to you next week!

Later Days <3

The Diviners: Review

The Diviners - Libba Bray

Hey Dolls and how are you?! I hope you are all Jake! I am doing pretty Jake myself. I would have gotten this review up a long time ago, but one laziness set in. And just when I was ready to put this one up. There was an unexpected death in my family and it has been a very hard week last week for us all. But, now I am back and just going to do a quick review on "The Diviners" by Libba Bray.

The Blurb:

Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City-and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It's 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.

Evie worries he'll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.

As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta running from her past. A student named Jericho hides a shocking secret. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened...

Yeah had to use the book's blurb it's hard right now to come up with one.

Even thou this story has been around for awhile and I just now got around to reading it. It's a very good one. I enjoyed the dive into the 20's vibe and loving the slang that is used for the story. There were some points that had gotten me angry, and some that had me rooting for the characters.

Evie is one of those characters that you have a like/not like moment. Along with her best friend Mabel.

Theta is has become a favorite of mine along with her brother (gay best friend) Henry. Reading about Theta's past was heartbreaking for me. But, she has become a tough cookie!

Memphis is a young man with good intentions, but going about it wrong. But, he is someone that you can enjoy reading about.

Jericho is just a guy who really wants to feel normal. He turns out to be really sweet.

Evie's Uncle Will is interesting, but can be a bit of a pain.

There are other characters that need to be mentioned Isaiah (Memphis's little brother) who is quite powerful, Sam (a street hustler) has a secret as well, & Sister Walker who helps Isaiah strengthen his power

Then, there is the villain who was quite disturbing and needed to just go right away, but of course that's not how you write a story lol! And the name Naughty John, that doesn't sound right to me! ha ha!

But, all in all it was a really good read and I did enjoy it! I wouldn't mind continuing the series and see what new villain comes along. I would recommend this one for those who love supernatural stories, 1920's vibe, and just a start of a new series.

Well, that's all I have for you all today. I hope you enjoy this all over the place review and it might not make sense. Be on the look out for another review, maybe tomorrow. I will do my best to, because I have promised myself to do something more on here. Enjoy your reads and your Summer!

IN SUMMER!!!

BoBs Last Day!!!

Good Hello everyone and how are you?! I hope you all are doing well! I am pretty good myself. So, as you can tell by the title it is the last day of BoBs and I am sad to see it done already! Reading Update: I am not quite done with either books, but I'm getting there. My imagination tends to take over and I end up getting distracted by other things. It's been quite a week.

So, where does it lead me with a proper update on reading? I am nearly done with both book thou. I have quite a lot to say about Anne of Green Gables. Be expecting a review on this story. Plus, reliving reading Charlotte's Web is always a delight! I will not be reviewing this one, because it's a great story!

What about this challenge I always do? It's simple actually! All I need to do is just to Stretch out my goals. Which is a pretty easy one if I think about it. I almost would have not have any if it wasn't for the obvious! To Finish The Reads I Have! I am going to try my best to finish these two reads before the day is over and....If I don't get distracted by other shiny objects! I am really bad at that!

I have been rambling on for to long now and I must get back to reading! I must finish these books! So, here I bid you all ado for the day/night. I also, wish for you many of great blessings and great reads.

Write to you next time

LATER DAYS!!!

BoBs Day Six!!!

Well hello there everyone and how are ya? Me....well, I am tired I stayed up for 24 hrs. Just to watch the Royal Wedding. I didn't get to bed until 9 am here in the U.S. I am worn out and I just want to go back to bed and not move, but I will say that staying up all night was worth it! I didn't watch William and Kate get married and I don't know why I decided to watching Harry and Meghan?

Anywhozzles, I am going onto long with the wedding! LOL! I of course am here to update you all and share a challenge. Reading Update: I haven't gotten around to reading yet. I did manage to read Charlotte's Web very early in the morning while waiting for a few things! But, I've been up for a few hours and I just need to push myself to read. But, I am enjoying the reads.

As for the challenge it's pretty simple all I need to do is just share a favorite moment or two from doing Bout of Books. And, it's just being able to do the challenges and having fun. Learning about books that have been added to my TBR wish list. Plus, the awesome people who would comment on your blog, telling you to "keep up the good work", "you're doing an awesome job". It's just a lot of fun being apart of the craziness. I don't remember how I found out about BoBs, but all I know that I was super excited to find a read-a-thon that I would stick with for quite awhile. And, I have to thank the ladies who had come with the idea! So, Thank you Amanda and Kelly for coming up with an awesome read-a-thon!

So, that is it from me for today. I will of course be back tomorrow to wrap it up! I hope you all are enjoying your day!

Until Tomorrow!

TOODLES!!!

BoBs Day Five!!!

Good Hello everyone and how are you today? I hope you all are doing well! I've been doing pretty good. So, for today's update I am about twelve chapters away from completing Anne of Green Gables and I am going to keep pushing myself to finish it. As for Charlotte's Web I haven't jumped into that yet today!

Okie Dokie onto today's challenge and it should be a fun one! It's a scavenger hunt sharing as many books as ya can in this challenge. Oh and it's space themed, let's get started shall we!

Here is the list:

xMercury - Favourite short story/novella
xVenus - Favourite book with female protagonist
xEarth - Favourite book about nature/nature word in the title
xMars - Favourite book with a red cover
xJupiter - Favourite tome over 500 pages

Pluto - Favourite books featuring a dog/with a dog on the cover

Alright this is going to be both fun and a bit crazy trying to find books that will do. But, I'm gonna try!

Mercury- Favorite Short story/Novella

This one has four different stories in them, but there was one that I thought was super cute from this book it's called   “The Dog Days of Laurie Summer" by Patricia Gaffney’s

Venus - Favourite book with female protagonist

Earth - Favourite book about nature/nature word in the title

Ok well this one is not necessarily centered around nature, but the characters do deal with nature.

Mars - Favourite book with a red cover

Jupiter - Favourite tome over 500 pages

Well, this one is just all seven of Jane Austen's Novels, but I have a different hardback from this one.

Saturn - Favourite book with circle/ring on the cover/in the title

This book is the only one I can think of that has somewhat of a ring on it!

Neptune - Favourite book set at sea, on a boat, or under water

Space - Favourite book set in space

So, I managed to find quite a bit of books and even thou I couldn't find all, I still had fun! I hope you all are enjoying your day. I wanted to also send out my heart and thoughts to the families out there who had to endure such a sorrowful day today. The world seems to be going to a crazy place right now and it's sad and heartbreaking.

Well, Toodles!

BoBs Day Four!!!

Salutations everyone. I hope you all are well. I know that booklikes seems to be in a bit of a pickle and are having trouble with having us see other posts. I hope that they will fix it soon. So, if you are seeing this that is awesome! Just doing an update and a challenge for you all and it should be fairly quick, since I'm leaving in a while. So, update still reading Anne of Green Gables and I need to jump into Charlotte's web. So far Anne of Green Gables is going through a lot and she's quite a character.

Okay onto the challenge so for this one we have a Read Alike which is basically if you like this then you'll enjoy this. I have shared quite a few in the past. So, coming up with a book or two shouldn't be too bad! Let's see. Oh I have one now!

If you have read this read

Then you'll enjoy this read

Both of these books have such an awesome story line and I love them both. They do have somewhat of similarities, both going on a journey to find themselves. But, they have their own way of finding themselves. Rather it's on purpose or not. Both bring about a sense of adventure and hope that it'll change you in some way at the very end! These books can give you lessons and hope!

Well, that is all I have for you all today! I will of course be back tomorrow! Enjoy your day

TOODLES!!!

BoBs Day Three!!!

Good Afternoon everyone and welcome back to my little post! I am here with an update and a new challenge. Yesterday I mentioned that I might have to read at least two books at the same time. And, I am! I'm still reading Anne of Green Gables and now I'm reading Charlotte's Web as well. I was hoping to have Anne's story done by now, but I seem to be going a little slow. I decided early this morning to get a jump in Charlotte's Web so that way I have at least two reads. Which I don't mind one bit! I will take my time on the two, it wasn't what I was planning, but hey I'm not complaining, I'm having a grand time feeling like I'm a little girl again reading these stories. There is nothing like reading a children's book to bring you back in time, where you remember being in the school's library picking out your next read!

Anyways, I have a challenge for you all today and that is called Show Me Your Precious. It sounds funny since Lord of the Rings! My Precious, my precious! LOL! I have quite a bit of Precious, but this one has been number one so far.

Even thou I have read this book as an adult, it has brought me joy and laughter. I found myself relating a bit to each girl in someway. Like I'm the oldest of my siblings, like Meg. I'm a writer, like Jo, Shy (when I don't know you,) like Beth, and a bit spoiled, like Amy. This story is something that a mother who loves to read should share with her little girl or boy. It's filled with lessons, love, understanding, and growing. I  just love this book!

Well, that is my update for today! I really do hope you all are enjoying your reads! So, until tomorrow's update, I bid you ado and good day or night!

Later Days!!!

BoBs Day Two!!!

Hello, hello everyone and welcome back to another day of me blogging about something! Well, my progress so far on my reads is I'm still reading "Anne of Green Gables" I am about twelve chapters in. I'm debating on rather or not I should read another book at the same time as this one, but I'm not to sure. I can't really think of anything else to share, but another challenge!

For this challenge it is called the year of you, where I get to pick a book from the year I was born. I am not afraid to share my age and year so here I go I was born in 1986! So, I will be turning 32 in the summer. I don't look my age and it's cool to know, but also slightly annoying to! So, here is a book that I found!

Stephen King's "IT" which I have seen both versions of the movie, but I haven't read the book and maybe I should! But, it's cool to know that the book came out at that year!

and Bonus Hatchet by Gary Paulsen I read this book when I was in fourth grade, it was a really good read!

Now you know my age which I don't mind sharing at all lol! I hope you all are having an amazing spring day and read. I'll be back tomorrow with a new post and a new challenge!

LATER DAYS!!!

The day has come, BoBs day one!

Good Hello everyone and how's it going? I hope you all are doing splendidly awesome! Well, today starts bout of books week and I'm excited to be participating in my 14th BoBs Week read-a-thon! This is the only time where I am forced to blog all week lol! So, I started my first read of the week and it's "Anne of Green Gables" by L. M. Montgomery. I am five chapters in and so far Anne is just adorable.

So, I have a challenge to share with you all and that is to introduce myself in six words. I honestly don't have any words to use. Since I've been doing this challenge for quite sometime. But, I'll try okay I think I have something!

Book Lover Nerd For Life Yo!

Hahahahahahahaha oh yeah I totally love this one! I need to start keeping tabs of all the six word intros that I have made up, because after awhile I tend to forget. And, bonus I am sharing my TBR Pile, even thou it's sideways! Sorry, I took it from my phone and just uploaded it from it.

Ok, so that is all from me for today! I will of course be back tomorrow with a new challenge and an update. I am being a nerd right now and I'm just really happy to be back on this awesome site sharing my reading adventures. I hope you all are having an awesome day!

TOODLES!!!

Bout of Books Time!!!

Hey everyone so I am back with a new post for you and it’s gonna be a quick one. I had hoped to have another review for you all, but I can’t seem to find the right “voice” for it. Well, I do, I’m just working on it to sound natural. Okay, so like the title says I am doing BoBs yet again and I’m excited! So, starting next week I’ll be posting everyday for that week! The books I have chosen are from PBS’s America’s Top 100 Books.

There are books I have read and books that I own and have not read! Which inspired me to read the books I own. Which is eleven in total but I know that I will not get to all eleven in a week! That will take a big miracle, a lot of coffee, and no sleep! I just have to see what happens! And ,if you don’t hear back from me send help! I will leave a link to PBS with the list of books; I will say that a few surprised me and one that I just don’t understand why!

Okay, so before I even start that rant; I’m going to share with you all the books I hope to get through!

The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde

Anne of Green Gables- L.M. Montgomery

Moby Dick- Herman Melville

Great Expectations- Charles Dickens

Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland- Lewis Carroll

The Great Gatsby- F. Scott Fitzgerald

Frankenstein- Mary Shelley

Jurassic Park- Michael Crichton

Wuthering Heights- Emily Brontë

Charlotte’s Web- E.B. White

War and Peace- Leo Tolstoy

Well, I will tell you that I have read Charlotte’s Web, but as a child and I did read The Great Gatsby, but I was a teen and I somehow found it a bore! Also, I did watch War and Peace with the amazing Audrey Hepburn!

Okie Dokie that is all from me for today, as soon as I figure out the review I will post it! I’ll be back soon and as promised the link!

Toodles!
