A Misfit Reader

Just a woman that has many books to read and many books to be bought and just to have books. Oh the books that have yet to be read by me!

Day 5 BoBs

Hey Everyone and how's it going? I hope all is well for ya. I am having a pretty good day myself, it is so hot outside and it feels more like Summer outside, even thou we're in Spring. I wanted to share with you all my update and challenge for the day.

So far in my reading I have made some good progress in both "The Lost World" and "Year One" but nothing too exciting to share with you all. I'm not sure where either of these books will go, but they're still good so far.

Today's challenge is to share our favorites from books to authors to whatever. This one I feel like I will sound like a broken record, but I don't care at the moment I am gonna share my faves!!!

Fave Author(s):

Paulo Coelho- he has this way of taking stories and turning them into life lessons. I haven't read all of his books, but I will. I love learning lessons from stories and he is definitely up on top.

Liz Gilbert- Now I haven't read any of her fiction books, but her non-fiction I have and loved them all so far, she is someone I really need to get to know more and not just through her non-fiction, but her fiction as well to see how she is as a story teller.

Fave Book(s):

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is always going to be my top fave of fiction novels, because it's just a cute story.

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak is such a touching story on how a little girl was brave enough to protect some powerful books

I'm gonna stop where I am. Now, there are a lot of other books and authors I can probably add on here as well, but these are a sample of who I'm starting to like and what books I gravitate towards. I do enjoy amazing reads each time.

I'll be back tomorrow with another BoBs update and challenge. Until then I hope you all are Just Doing You Boos!!!

TTYL!!!

BoBs Day 3 & 4!!!

Good hello everyone, and how's it going? I hope all is well for you. As you can tell by the title.I am not only doing today's update and challenge, I am also, doing yesterday's too. Because, for some reason Booklikes wasn't having it yesterday lol! And, I was looking forward for yesterday's challenge so here is yesterday's updates and chanllenge.

For day three: I started reading "The Lost World" by Michael Crichton, I really loved reading "Jurassic Park" which was so different from the movie, but it was still awesome.  Also, I am a believer of God and Angels. On Tuesday night I started reading "Chicken Soup of the Soul: Touched by an Angel: 101 Miraculous Stories" by Amy Newmark. I love reading stories about Angels and Miracles and this is filled with a lot of amazing stories. I also am making my way through "Year One".

For the challenge it was Book to Movie: Which of course you choose books you would love to see turn into a movie. I have been thinking about this and my first one up on the list is:

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Heartless also by Marissa Meyer

Carry On by and Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

And When The Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Puddin' by Julie Murphy

The Diviners by Libba Bray

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

See Me by Wendy Higgins

Well, this is some of the books that I would love to see be turned into movies, because each one of these had amazing stories that need be shared and I would love to see it on the big screen. So, here is day three's update and challenge.

Onto today's update and challenge. Today I have gotten farther in "Year One" what I of course I don't like about the book is the realism of what humans are capable of, the darkest parts of them more then just an asshole. Yes, those characters piss me off the most and then some. But, I am enjoying it nonetheless. I haven't gotten too far into "The Lost World" but, I love being back with the dinosaurs and not having to deal with too many asshole characters lol! But, I'm sure my tune will change one I get further along.

Onto my challenge of the day it is called Bookish Matchingmaking where I will be sharing with you all my recommendations of  books that you all might like.

Well, definitely any of the books I have listed up top ^^^ they're all so good. But, totally just about anything from Paulo Coelho, I haven't read all of his books yet, but I am making my way towards that slowly. I recently read "Eleven Minutes" by Paulo and I thought that this book was going to be something I might not like, but I ended up enjoying and loving the meaning behind this book. "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott is another one I love so much. That's all I got for you all because so many books to recommend!

I am currently making my way through my one and only shelves of books and It's going to look a little empty if I keep reading as I am. So, if any of you have any great recommendations for me let me know, because one day I want to start shopping for books and I would love to see what I can get.

Well, my fellow book nerds I will be back tomorrow (hopefully!) with another bookish update and challenge. Until then have a have.

TTYL!!! (talk to you later) and TTFN!!! (ta ta for now)

Day 2 of BoBs!!!

Hey, hey everyone and how's it going? I hope all is well for you all. I have been doing pretty good today. I am here on today's update and challenge for day 2 of BoBs!!!

I just finished reading and listening to "Cinder" by Marissa Meyers I give it 5 stars, because it was a really great read. Yes, there are moments of palm to face, but it was still really great to read. I am slowly making my way through "Year One" by Nora Roberts that I had started last month, I had to set it aside because it was at the fresh stages of the pandemic and well, I was not ready to read it. But, it is a good read so far and I'm glad I picked it up again after walking away from it in April.

For today's challenge of the day! It is called If This, Then That where I will try to choose a recommendation for everyone. Ok, here I go!

If you enjoyed "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" by Ransom Riggs, then you should try "Asylum" by Madeleine Roux (I still need to get a hold of her other books in the series)

If you like YA Horror or just Horror in general then you should try "And When The Trees Crept In" (US  title)  "The Creeper Man" (UK Title) by Dawn Kurtagich. It is the same book, but for some reason the US was not having it with the title, which is lame. But, this book was so crazy awesome!

So, there we have it for today's challenge and update. I'll be back tomorrow with a new update and challenge. I hope you all are crushing your reading goals, if not then I hope you're just crushing the day/night. Have an awesome time regardless!!!

WARM HUGS heading your way!!!

Everyone, it's BoBs Day 1!!!

Hey Everyone, I am here with my BoBs update and challenge so far. I am making my way (downtown walkin' fast, faces pass, and I'm home bound!!! haha sorry had to) anyways, I am making my way through Cinder by Marissa Meyer and I am loving the story so far. I also, might start another read today, just so I can get going on reducing more of my TBR. But, I'm too caught up with Cinder.

As for the challenge it is the traditional introduce yourself in six words. Now, I need to come up with new words haha.

Book Nerd In Training For Greatness!!!

I did it! I would like to think that these get easier as I do this each time, but it really doesn't :D ! Anyways, I'm happy to be back with participating with BoBs Week and to bring down more of my TBR during this time!

I will be back tomorrow with another update and challenge! Until then have an awesome day/night and I'll write to you all soon!

Later Days!!!

Updates and what I've been up to

Hello everyone, I know it's been awhile since I last wrote. I had been working up until the stay at home order had been place in my State. So, I've been out of work since March and I'm missing it. But, I will say that I've been doing a lot of reading since then.

So, last month I participated in a Booktube read-a-thon called O.W.L.s Magical Read-a-thon. I had so much fun doing this and I loved the fact that this read-a-thon is based around Hogwart's classes. For those who don't know, this read-a-thon has been created by a Booktuber called Book Roast. She is the one who created this awesome thing and has been at it for three years now. I will leave a link to that specific video, so that way she can give you a better explanation for the read-a-thon  Magical Read-A-Thon. This also is a month long event and there is her N.E.W.T.s one as well that is in August.

This was my first time participating in this, I have heard of it, but I finally did it this year since ya know Quarantine has decided to become Jumanji in real life (freaking Murder Hornets!) Anywhozzles, I've read eight book for this, but, I've read nine in total, the last book was a reread and wanted to finish it. Here is the books I've read &/or listened to last month.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stephenson 3 stars

Heartless by Marissa Meyer 5 stars

How To Be Brave by E. Katherine Kottaras 4 stars

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell 5 stars

And The Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich 5 stars

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater 5 stars

Past The Wishing...by Jen Deweerdt 5 stars

Wildly Into The Dark by Tyler Knott Gregson 5 stars

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (my reread) 5 stars

That was my read pile from last month!

Now, I've notice on here that booklikes is having a problem keeping tabs on the reading challenge that we all set up for the year. I've currently read 17 books so far out of 40, but I'm just going with the flow and if I hit 40 or more awesome, if not awesome either way lol!

For this month I have 10 books lined up for my TBR since the stay at home order is still in affect and I don't know when I will return to work. I've already finished two books out of the list and I'll put those on top when I list my TBR for this month.

Storm Prey by John Sandford 3 stars

Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho 5 stars

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Year One by Nora Roberts

The Lost World by Michael Crichton

Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them (the movie script) by J.K Rowling

Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday

The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson

Buffering by Hannah Hart

Sadie by Courtney Summers

I am of course going to be doing the Bout of Books read-a-thon starting tomorrow and I cannot wait! Well, I've blabbed on for too long and I thank you all for reading this! I hope you all have an awesome week and that you all are still going strong or doing your best during this crazy ass time! I'll write to you all tomorrow!

Toddles!!!

Updates and Stuff and Stuff

Good Hello everyone!

It's been a long time, I know, I have no excuse, I'm just lazy! I hate to admit that, but I have not been in a creative mood. I would tell myself "I'll return" and I don't. It has taking me this long to really sit down and plan out when it'll be a good day to post something. I figured why not today!

My hope and goal is to again try to post at least once a week, on Fridays so that way I have time to write out what I want to write and share with you all. I have been all over the place with my life and I just want to make a come back, I do have time, but I also started a job too.

I have a lot to write about and too share, I'm also going to try to tone down my violent ways of thinking... haha (wish me luck!). I'm going to share: book discussions, lessons learned, how I would react to a book world, and whatever I can come up with. I will also throw in book reviews, but I'm having a slow time reading. I have about eight books I want to get to. Which are

Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (reread and buddy read)

Storm Prey by John Sandford

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

Ashes to Ashes by Tami Hoag

The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson

And The Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich

Is You Okay? by Glozell Green

These eight are just a continuous TBR, I don't have a specific reading goal for the month, it's when one book is done, pick a new one. I'm focusing on getting my own personal library down quite a lot, because I don't want an never ending TBR list on my shelf lol! I put myself on a no buying ban until I can read a specific amount of books and then I will buy new ones. And, the three I bought during the New Year doesn't count...ok yeah, I broke it within the first week of January, but they were saying "buy me" so, I did and I was happy about it! :D Then, I followed through on the no buying ban! So, I'm good!

Well, I've been blabbing on for to long and I'm gonna leave this here for you all to enjoy. I'll be back (terminator voice) next Friday, with a brand new post. I hope you all are excited, because I am...Have an awesome weekend and enjoy yourselves follow readers!

TOODLES!!!

Also, I have two books read, but counter isn't working!

Such a good read

Becoming - Michelle Obama

I actually enjoyed reading this book! I like the insights to her life before, during, and after being in the white house. Got a kick out of some of her thought process. But, also, I enjoyed the work she has done regardless what anyone thought of her. If this is the type of read you are looking for, then you should give it try!

Did Not Finish

The Complete Stories - Flannery O'Connor

Yeah had a hard time getting into this, I was picking stories at random to see if it will go by faster. I just could not, some stories where just “what in the hell did I just read” stories, others weren’t too bad, but I just did not want to finish this! So, I have no idea what the other stories are about!

BoBs Fail

Hey everyone, how's it going? I hope all is well for you all! As for my I am doing pretty good, but I wanted to share with you all today about me not being able to finish BoBs this week. It sucks for me big time, but unfortunately, BoBs came at a crazy time for me. Going back to school, taking time to celebrate my mom's birthday, I have a ton of homework to do, and events. So, I haven't been able to read all that I wanted to read.

It drives me crazy knowing that I would not be finishing BoBs this week. I just kind of had to prioritize my family and school, over doing BoBs. My goal for this blog of my mine is to at least post once a week. I have been pushing this aside, along with my YouTube channel for a long time. I'm going to take this slow. See where this will take me, I can't let myself be all about school or all about books. So, I'm gonna work hard at balancing out school and blog.

Writing a post for you all brings me joy, so doesn't making a video. If you want you all can subscribe to my channel, because next week, I have a collab with a friend of mine. We are going to be time traveling to our childhood and we are going to be reading, watching TV shows and movies, and listening to music during our small human years lol! This is going to be a vlog style video and holy cow, I've tried doing one and I just couldn't. So, that means I'm gonna be vlogging at school as well. I have some books and movies lined up along with music (thank you YouTube!) So, I'll leave a link at the end of this post.

Again, it sucks not being able to finishing BoBs week, but I'll do my damnest to myself to post as much as I can on here and on YouTube! I hope you all are having a fantastic day/night and I'll post to all later!

2 days of BoBs!!!

Hey everyone and how's it going today? I hope all is well! For me I have been to busy chilling with my mom, because today is her Birthday and I just wanted to spend time with her. That means I haven't read anything today yet, but I will make it up tomorrow. As soon as I finish my homework lol! But, I am happy to still be doing this regardless of not reading anything just for one day! Yesterday I did read one more chapter in The Hazel Wood and it's getting interesting. I just need to keep pushing myself forward!

Which brings me to today's challenge and it's a good one. The challenge is called Adaptation Aspirations all ya need to do is choose a book you would love to see be turned into a movie, TV Show, a musical if ya want. Also, for bonus points you can share who you would love to see playing these characters, who you would love to see direct, write the script, the music. I'm just going to keep mine pretty simple, because I'm still kind of tired and my mind doesn't want to think to long lol! Ok so here I go!

The book I would love to see be turned into a movie is "Carry On" by Rainbow Rowell! I fell in love with Simon's and Baz's relationship. The whole story made me beam with happiness and I cannot wait to "Wayward Son" comes out. I don't know who would be a perfect Simon and Baz yet, maybe that would be a future post!

Well, it's pretty simple alright. I'll be back tomorrow to update you all and do a new challenge!

LATER DAYS!!!

You Know What Day It Is?

It's BoBs Week!!!

Hey everyone and how's it going?! I know it's been forever since I last posted anything on here! Well, I've been pretty unmotivated to do anything. But, not today, I am currently at school and it's my first day back since forever! I'm excited to do so, but also kinda nervous because it's been a long time since I've been back here! Well, onto what we're all here for and that is again Bout of Books Week (aka BoBs)! I have a few books lined up to read and they are:

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

The Archive (reread) by Victoria Schwab

The Unbound also by Victoria Schwab

I may try to fit more into this week, since I'm only going to school two days a week and it's they are decent hours of the week! This is going to be a fun week so stay tune! To kick off BoBs Week I am going to be introducing myself with six words! As always lets begin!

I AM READER! I AM READER!

Ya see what I did there! A little of a Guardians of the Galaxy reference haha! Well, that's it for me! I have some time to kill before my first class starts and I need to finish my first read up like now lol! To damn long I've been reading The Hazel Wood, must move on! I hope you all have an amazing day and night! Until tomorrow!

LATER DAYS!!!

Last Update of BoBs

Good Hello everyone and how's it going? I hope you all are doing awesome! I'm doing awesome myself. As you can see by the title of this here blog post. It is the last day of BoBs...sad day for me, because I had so much fun doing this! So, I get to update you on how my reading is going, which is not to bad. So far I'm discovering the history of Helen Graham in her younger days. Which is quite interesting. There where moments where I was annoyed at the characters Helen had to deal with, but as for her aunt, I see where she is coming from with Helen's choice of a man, but the men she chooses are a major bore, even to me. I'm not quite out of her history just yet, and I'm sure I have a bit more to go, but this story is really keeping me interested.

Alright, onto the challenge of the day! Which is a really just for me to stretch my goal I set for this read-a-thon. I didn't set a goal, because I almost forgot that BoBs was coming up this soon. I hope by the time the next one comes, I'll be set and ready with a better goal.

I  do hope to get further along with "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall", but I know that I'm not going to be finished with it today, I should've had more book choice. That being said, that's all I got for you all on this last day of BoBs! I'm happy to be back on here and to share my love with books. I was also wondering if you all have any more suggestions of read-a-thons that I can look into? Let me know! I will be back soon with a regular post YAY!!! Until then!

DARCARYS!!!

Update of the BoBs Day 6!

What's Up Peeps and how's it going? Well, today is another update. I'm gonna be honest I haven't read anything at all, because I have been busy at my sister-in-law's pinning ceremony. Which was a treat to see, I felt very honored to have been invited to see her get pined by my nephew, which was super adorable.

So, for today's challenge I am to share the love on any book, website, etc. During this read-a-thon. To Be honest, I don't have anything to share, which is bad on my part, I could have easily looked at the other links to my fellow participants and see if they might have books that I would read. But, I haven't, which makes this a very short entry.

That means I'm done for today's post. I'm sorry for today's shemurr of an entry. But, I will be back tomorrow with a better entry. But, for today I was celebrating with my sister-in-law and took a break for an awesome purpose.  Until tomorrow!

SHIMY SHIMY!!!

BoBs Update Day 5

Howdy howdy everyone and how's it going? I hope amazing, I'm feeling awesome! Well, as excepted BoBs update and book update. So far, I am deeper into my read and I have many of whaaaaat moments. I mean I am still shipping Gilbert and Helen, but I'm learning a lot more about Helen, I'm very interested to see where this is going. I just have to keep pushing myself to keep going and see where this is going.

Anywhozzles, onto what we're all here for and that is the challenge of the day. Today's challenge is quite fun and I have a few characters that I'm thinking of . All I gotta do is share with you all my favorite heroes and villains. Let's give those characters a shout out shall we!!!

Favorite Heroes:

Katniss Everdeen: She is someone who is just learning all this by the seam of her pants, she's still young and learning. She's not perfect and she knows it too. But, she will always have heart of gold when it comes to the people in her life.

Hermione Granger: Book smart and quick on her feet. She is a force to be reckon with, also, has a heart of gold. Cares for every creature, and will do whatever it takes to protect her friends.

Favorite Villains:

Bellatrix Lestrange: Despite me really hating her, she is herself 100%. Fierce, chaotic, crazy, heartless. She's the one you really want to hate on a lot. But, she makes it fun to be bad.

I thought I had another villain in mind, but apparently I don't...oh well!!! It looks like I have a lot of reading to do to find more fave villains lol. I can name a lot of heroes, but these girls are my top two. I could add a lot of non-fictional heroes, but I'm gonna save them for a later post.

Well, that's all folks :). Like always I'll be back tomorrow with a new update and challenge. It might be late, it might not be. My sister-in-law is getting her nursing pin and I was invited to go. My nephew is pinning her which is gonna be super exciting to see. Alright, I hope you all have an amazing reading day and night. Until tomorrow!

DANCE PARTAAAAAAYYY!!!

Magical BoBs update day four

Good Late Afternoon everyone and how's it going? I hope you all are awesome today. I feel awesome, but I also feel sleepy! I hit that lull of needing to go back to sleep and I ain't having it lol! Anywhoozles, book update, so far learned the name of Mrs. Graham...(it's Helen lol) Well, here's the book tea! Mr. Markham (Gilbert is his name) and Helen have become friends. There have been rumors spreading around Helen's past. Gilbert wants to defend and comfort his friend. Well, things happened that just makes Gilbert's world go right round. You all have to wait and see what's gonna happened next later, I'm gonna see where this is going after this lol! So, much more I want to say, like gossiping and rumors, just so much going on. Ok that is all!

Moving on before I turn this into a tangent. For today's challenge it's a really simple one. It's called if you like this, try that. Now, this has been the hardest challenge for me, because I haven't really read all that much of each genre. I can choose authors as well, that can be a bit easy...maybe. Well, I'm gonna try lets jump in shall we!

If you like "Asylum" by Madeleine Roux, then try "Dead House" by Dawn Kurtagich (who happens to be my interweb buddy) You'll enjoy the twists and turns she has written in this book!

If you like books that give you a good feeling, lessons to learn, thoughts to think about, just all the feels together then try Paulo Coehlo's books.

That's all I'm going to put down, because I don't want to go down that rabbit hole and get lost and my head hurt from over thinking lol!

Here is where I end for the day, I hope you all enjoyed this here post! Have an awesome day and I'll be back tomorrow of course with another update! Until then!

DANCE IT OUT!!!

BoBs Update Day 3

Hey everyone and how's it going? I hope all is well! I'm doing pretty well myself lol! So, I'm here to update you all on my read for this awesome read-a-thon. Shall we proceed. So far my current read (The Tenant of Wildfell Hall) has gotten me really invested in these characters. I am shipping the Mr. Markham with Mrs. Graham big time! I am adoring Mrs. Graham's son Arthur, not really caring for any of the other characters yet. Plus, I'm only on chapter ten, so I really don't know what's gonna happen lol.

Onto the challenge of the day, today I just have to use emojis to tell you all a book plot or however many books you want to use. Let's us not wait around and Allons-y:

Twilight:  Girl on Apple iPhone OS 2.2 SparklesMan Vampire on AppleRed Heart on Apple

Harry Potter: Boy on AppleHigh Voltage on AppleMan Mage on AppleSchool on Apple

Well, that's all I got, maybe I'll do another post on this as well. A better one, a well thought out one lol! That's it from me, I'll be back tomorrow with a new post. Until then I hope you all have an awesome book reading day!
